As a Lead Narrative Designer and Narrative Producer, I work with a team to not only champion the story throughout the game design process but to ensure that the narrative and gameplay work together for the maximum player experience. A sample of shipped titles I’ve worked on: Disney Dreamlight Valley, Disney Speedstorm, Lego Star Wars Castaways, Asphalt 9, Kinder Applaydu, Gangstar, Heroes of the Dark, Journeys, and Dragon Mania Legends. I’m also working on multiple game in production and can provide writing samples on request. As you can see, I can write for a wide range of genres as well as writing in the voice of well-known characters for IP owners such as Disney, Lucasfilms, and Lego.
As a staff writer for this daily talk-variety show, I wrote monologues, desk pieces, and topical jokes in the voice of Ellen DeGeneres. I can provide samples upon request.
The goal of the Science with Sophie project was to create a fast-paced quirky science comedy web series aimed at girls to engage them in STEM education. Offering a show created and hosted by women provides girls (and boys) with positive female role models and begins to address the problem of under-representation in science media.
Season 2 Episode Examples:
I am a staff writer for Science with Sophie, an educational science comedy series aimed at girls ages 7–14. As this show has developed from idea to reality, I have have worked with a team of women to develop the voice of this show, research topics, write episodes, and contribute to promotional material.
I have written several pilots, one of which is currently being shopped around to several production companies. These include “Swipe Right”, a half-hour office comedy about a matchmaker that can’t find a match, “Bi-Coastal”, a dramedy about infertility and infidelity, and “Time Traveling Feminists” a Bill & Ted’s-esque comedy about two women who stumble upon a time machine and decide to go in search of stories about badass women throughout time.
I have also placed in the top five of the Final Draft Big Break Contest twice. Once for a spec script of Bob’s Burgers, and once for a spec script of Parks and Rec.
I perform stand-up and improv in New York and LA including Gotham Comedy Club, Bowery Poetry Club, and the New York Comedy Club. I’ve done improv at The PIT, UCBNY, UCBLA, and iO West. I’ve also told stories in the Moth Grand Slam. I am currently working on a show with my wife, Lori Strauss, for the Edinburgh Fringe Fest called “Lori and Jess Solve All of Your Problems”. You can catch us actively writing it in front of audiences in NYC and Boston.
Below is a sample of a scripted video that highlights the design process for the lobby of 575 Fifth Avenue. The project goal was to reimagine the space to capture the vitality of the surrounding neighborhood.
When creating marketing videos, I use the design goals and unique aspects of the project to create the logline and to write a story arc. I then develop a video script to determine the footage needed and when needed, I conduct interviews to support the script. Above is a sample of this process.
As an experience designer, I worked with a team to create immersive experiences as part of museum installations, retail experiences, and various public art pieces. My role was to guide the creation of the piece to make sure it told a story and each part of the design felt cohesive to the user.
The goal for this project was to transform the site into a playful town square atmosphere with an interactive clocktower. I worked with a multi-disciplinary team to develop an interactive installation, the Chromophone. It is an easy-to-learn instrument that produces surprising animations on the clocktower and polyphonic music for the user.
ESI Design needed an updated website and brand messaging that matched their cutting edge design while also celebrating their pioneering spirit.

To ensure a successful brand refresh with buy-in from all key stakeholders, I began with discovery meetings to learn about ESI's strengths and opportunities. I then did a competitor analysis to uncover ESI's differentiators. From this qualitative data, I developed taglines and key messaging and wrote the web content for the new ESI Design website.
City of Hope's relies on fundraising and donations to support research and treatment programs. Below is a messaging campaign created to emphasize what makes the City of Hope experience different. The goal was to highlight personal stories and real people to connect and increase engagement.
I worked with City of Hope to use personal stories across the website, email campaigns, and ads (digital and print) to promote their new brand message that City of Hope provides the “miracle of science with soul."
To help embrace the patient stories, each landing page and email uses personal stories, photography, and clear, concise messaging to become a place for people to share their stories to inspire others. Using fundraising microsites, email, and ad campaigns, City of Hope was able to form communities and show that it is more than just a hospital or research center rather than just saying it.
Below are links to two fundraising event microsites. As part of these events, people are encouraged to share their stories on personal pages that they can create and to share photos via event-specific hashtags.
